Deception's
Actual Costs
Deception
in Business
Hiring
In 2004
the average cost of hiring a salaried employee is $4262.
According to Fortune magazine, 50% or more of
all newly hired employees don't work out. As
a result, when a new employee doesn't work out, the company
must spend an additional $4262 for their replacement.
Most
of those failures were the result of decisions based
upon deceptive information provided by the applicants.
More specifically, concerning applicant deception:
-
33%
or more of all applications contain outright
lies about experience, education, and abilities
-
33%
listed deceptive dates of employment
-
30%
exaggerate their accomplishments
-
10%
seriously misrepresent their background
-
11%
misrepresent why they left a former employer
-
9%
falsely claim a college degree, list false employers,
or claim jobs that did not exist
Trying
to remedy a hiring mistake can make things much
worse. If an improperly chosen applicant
is hired and then let go, they may challenge the decision through
legal action. Sixty percent of this type of litigation
is won by the applicant.
As you
can see, applicant deception will cost at least $4262
and possibly much more.
Utilizing
this program is just good business sense. By
doing so, you will save your company or business
thousands of dollars in avoidable expenditures
at a fraction of the cost. Don't let deception
eat away at your profits!
Employees
What
about those already hired?
-
63%
of employees use sick time as personal
leave time costing the company $645
per employee per year
-
50%
of retail employees undercharge to
save money and overcharge to pocket
extra money
-
48%
of retail losses are due to straigtht foreward employee
theft
-
30%
of business failures are caused by employee
theft
-
15%
of job applicants admit to stealing from previous
employers
| Don't let your profits
fly out of the window because of deception! Use my proven
techniques. I guarantee you will see results or your money
back! |

Interpersonal
Deception
While individuals
also lose money, deception can cause much greater losses!
In
Relationships
Over
25% of marriages involve extramarital affairs with a
deceiving spouse.
Miscommunication
is one of the primary causes of divorce. Deception
is at the root of many misperceptions.
At
Home
Almost 50% of burglarized
homes
were victimized by someone known and
trusted by the homeowner. A large percentage of those
were people duped into giving the deceptive
burglar a key to their home.
On
the Job
Physicians
also rely upon obtaining quality information. A physician
deceived by a patient may make an incorrect diagnosis
which may in turn cause harm to the patient.
Cost:
Their Medical License, their livelihood and even human life.
A study
on "the effectiveness of intensive training for residents
in interviewing" revealed that medical residents who
received advanced interviewing training became
superior to untrained residents not only in knowledge
and attitudes but in other areas as well. The study concluded
that intensive training in interviewing significantly
improved their attitudes and skills.
Why
is this important? Studies have shown that Physicans
experience deception much more than what may be imagined.
-
38%
lied about following doctors orders
-
32%
lied about thier diet and exercise
-
22%
lied about smoking
-
17%
lied about sexual behaviors
-
16%
lied about use of alcohol
-
12
% lied about recreational drug use
The majority
of 24-25 year olds tended to mislead the doctor
concerning recreational drug use, sexual history and tobacco use.
Social
workers rely upon good information when
deciding how to manage a cliet base. A deceived social
worker can be a costly deception. Reports
of deaths due to deceived case managers are,
sadly, not new occurrences.
Essentially
any position where interpersonal communication
takes place is a probable deceptive situation.
If you interact with people, you need
this training.
| Whether you're a physician, a social worker or a spouse
you can improve your communication skills by using these simple
yet effective methods of detecting deception. I guarantee
it! |
